Hello, my name is Kiv Bui. I am a freelance illustrator, currently studying abroad in California, United States.
I create artworks using multi-different mediums, from traditionally and digitally.
Art came to me when I was a victim of bullying back in my high school days. That unfortunate event did not have a negative impact on my creativity but to inspired me to create artworks.
To me illustrating means to tell a story and express feelings but does not necessarily involve negative meaning behind it. I want to turn negativity story into positive artworks and hope to inspire my viewer to positivity.
I work with art that is also inspired by old Japanese cultures like Japanese folk lord, food, and clothing. The genre of my illustration is fantasy and romance, sometimes I add sci-fi elements into it. My main personal project is called Omamori, The Protectors, about the 9 Traditional Japanese Amulets. This original concept project has connections to my other personal projects and I am working on expanding it bigger in the future.
Among all the progress of illustrating, I found working on backgrounds like scenery and environments are my most joyful process.
When I have free time I enjoy sketching to practice with what I am lack off while watching anime show.
