Kiv Bui is a freelance illustrator, currently studying abroad in California, United States. As an illustrator, her work covers storyboarding, fabric designing, concept, and background developing. Kiv's most significant interest is to seek positivity in a negative story. She interested in helping the viewer see hope and happiness in her creations.
One example of her recent personal series of work is The Reversed Black Hole, when the concept surrounds the positive view of the dead, which she draws see-through skin spirit and creature. She likes to bring together the living and the dead. She wants to see dead as calm and respectful instead of scary and depressing. Another important personal series is Omamori, The Protectors, which she creates characters and scenery that give viewers good fortunes.
She loves mixing reality and fantasy in her art concepts. She got inspired by old Japanese cultural folklore, Yukio-e, food, clothing, and Western spiritual folklore. She creates artworks using multi-different traditional and digital mediums.
